Plant Care

Light: Provide bright, indirect light for Tillandsia brachycaulos. They thrive in filtered sunlight or artificial light, making them suitable for various indoor environments. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as it can lead to leaf burn.

Water: Tillandsia brachycaulos is an air plant that absorbs moisture through its trichomes. Submerge the plant in room temperature water for about 20-30 minutes every 1-2 weeks. Shake off excess water afterward to prevent water from collecting at the base of the leaves, which can lead to rot.

Air Circulation: Adequate air circulation is crucial for Tillandsia brachycaulos. After watering, ensure the plant dries completely within 4 hours to prevent rot. Good air flow also helps the plant absorb nutrients from the air.

Temperature: Maintain a temperature range of 50-90°F (10-32°C). Protect the plant from extreme cold, as Tillandsia brachycaulos is sensitive to frost.

Fertilization: While air plants generally derive nutrients from the air, you can supplement their diet by misting them with a diluted, water-soluble orchid or bromeliad fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring to early fall).

Display: Tillandsia brachycaulos can be creatively displayed. Attach them to objects like driftwood, rocks, or place them in open terrariums. Ensure that the base of the plant is not constantly in contact with a surface to prevent moisture accumulation.
